There’s a ton of history…where do we start?
Here’s our story (intertwined with history) and presented with intentional ambiguity.
Elevate was previously called Bridge, under the leadership of Pastor Buz Offenbacker and a local church. In 1996, as a Senior in High School, I was among the handful of original leaders that launched the Bridge. It later became a powerful para-church ministry and grew to reach thousands of college and career adults from various churches with vast backgrounds. Young adult leaders carried and expanded the ministry under the guidance and teaching of Pastor Gary Clark (who is now a Calvary Chapel pastor), while a few local churches (Gloucester County Community Church, Joy Community Fellowship, Clayton Baptist) hosted Elevate at different times throughout the years.
In 1996, my parents founded a ministry team of young adults that focused on sharing testimony and performing in concert. Praz Jam toured the northeast area of the United States for approximately 8 years, released 2 albums and recorded over 20 original songs (produced through Horizon Recording Studios), while participating in nearly 200 concerts. The ministry, and its various branches, led many to Christ.
To be honest, my preference is to move forward in God-confidence with the calling He has placed on my life, without feeling the need to share past areas of service or ministry. We are always to remain humble at the foot of the cross in anything we set our hearts or minds to do for His glory. However, people are often curious when one steps out in God-confidence with their calling. Human nature often questions, “Who are you? Why are you here? What are you about? What’s your experience and credibility? ” Therefore, I am sharing our story and history.
The past 15 years of my life have been dedicated to raising a family as a wife and homeschooling mom. The years included battling severe Ulcerative Crohns-Colitis, and helping my husband run a business. For my husband, it’s been 20 years of focusing on business with a heart for church history, worship, and ministry sprinkled into his life. In my current season of life, most would not know that I once served as a lead lyricist, vocalist, or public speaker/ teacher in ministry. I produced and co-hosted a youth focused radio show on WZZD990am, and launched a teen mentorship/ discipleship program called Godz Girlz. Since then, it seems I’ve lost my voice… literally (but not spiritually). My heart mostly leans towards writing, teaching, and leadership anyway. For nearly a decade, during the Elevate and Praz Jam years, and for several years afterwards, I first worked in the field of Communications, and later as an elementary and special education teacher. I hold an Associates in Biblical Studies, a Bachelor’s in Communications, and Certification in Elementary and Special Education.
In this season of life, I relate to stay-at-home moms who chose to put their careers and ministry aside to raise a family. My family is my primary ministry. Throughout the years, I sought to maintain a level of service to our community by assisting in Sunday school or homeschool co-ops. I wrote for church newsletters, and submitted articles published in the Calvary Chapel Magazine. Recently, Godz Girlz has been re-launched as I’m serving my daughter and our community through the ministry.
In 2013, while in the prime of raising “littles,” I launched missionzera as a blog for Christian moms and women. My heart’s desire is to serve Christ in all seasons of life, even though those seasons change. When I was young, I served the youth and young adults. Then, I focused on women and moms. As our children are growing up, our focus has shifted back towards the youth, and the adults who are influencing them. Our hearts beat for leadership, discipleship, mentorship, and practical apprenticeship. As business owners, we love the to see the youth develop skill sets that come from learning trades. We mostly want to see them grow spiritually.; however. We are continuing to ask God to lead us as we incorporate all of these components into ministry.
Missionzera encourages families to serve Christ together, alongside each other. It’s important to note that Missionzera encourages family life first.
As for the history of Elevate and Praz Jam, the impact of those ministries are woven into our hearts and shaped our lives. Today, the experiences and lessons learned during that season of life are playing an integral role in our lives and ministry today. We have not forgotten the ways in which God worked in that season (1996-2006). If social media existed during those years, South Jersey probably would’ve been viewed as experiencing a youth revival. Many, many hearts and lives (locally) were changed during that decade preceding social media and YouTube (which launched 2005), and through those ministries.
We trust that IF God wills it, and the people do their respective part, HE can do it again!
Psalm 19:7 “The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.”
Psalm 85:6 “Wilt thou not revive us again: That thy people may rejoice in thee?”
our combined experience in Education, Teaching, Creative & Media Arts, Radio Production & Hosting, Public Relations & Special Events, Public Speaking, Worship, Youth Mentorship, and perhaps most prominently… running a successful business, brings us to a place on our knees. We’re seeking what He wants with our lives that holds eternal value. To clarify, we are not offering our services, talents, or abilities to work on projects or ideas of others. Our time and resources are precious and we are investing into God’s kingdom in the specific ways He’s equipped us, and in the specific ways in which He’s leading through Missionzera. We additionally serve in our church, and prayerfully consider networking and partnering with other churches, pastors, and leaders.
Our purpose in sharing part of our history is to give a glimpse into our background and hopefully help you understand some of the life experiences and ways in which God invested into our lives. In this season of life, we are asking Him to continue to work in and through us for His purposes. We are here with humble hearts, and yet walking in the assurance that if He indeed is calling us to specific tasks or assignments within the context of ministry, then He has also equipped the calling.
One of our goals is to help you (and youth) answer that same question. What talents and abilities has God given you for a specific purpose and calling on your life? How can you live for Christ with intention? How can you best serve Him while we collectively create a Christ-centered impact in our culture? How can we relationally connect better as the church? How can we effectively reach our world, and the people within our own country, and communities?
We must ask Him for wisdom to understand His ways and discern truth.
John 12:24 “Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains by itself. But if it dies, it produces a large crop. I tell you the truth.”
Missionzera started 10+ years ago as a blog, with a focus on moms and women. The inspiration included the Hebrew word “zera” which means seed. In recent years, God granted new understanding as “missions” and “z” and “era” present a fresh revelation. Missionzera is more than planting seeds of hope for women; it reaches the current generations with His truth.
Missionzera and networking friends daily seek God for what is next in the journey of planting seeds of Biblical faith and Christ-centered hope into hearts.
